I have a question about SoundFonts (if I may piggyback).
I just read in my Reason book that the NX samplers can play soundfonts, does this mean I can use them without a SoundBlaster or is that still a hardware requirement for soundfonts in this day and age?
I know, a bit off-topic, but I do have reason rewired to Live, so there.

There are lots of software Soundfont players. No idea if NNXT can load them directly, but give it a try.

Dude, use apple's SF2 player...it's free.
Just place your SF2 files here under (either in the user or main HD /library/audio/sounds/banks) and you'll be good to go.

As far as i remember, NNXT can load them, and you dont need a soundblaster card to do it, soundfont is just a file format... Check:

You can use DLS Music plug, it's the quicktime plug, works great.

I found these tips yesterday and they seem to be the answer for me.
I have a mac and found some soundfonts and put them in the location described above
I open DLS Music Device as an AU in Live in a midi track.
by default this opens up apple's GM Device "Quicktime Player" and I can play that fine.
I use the drop down to change to the soundfont I put in the folder, but then get no sounds.
any ideas?
I did this with 3 differnt sound fonts I downloaded, all in .sf2 format.

Yes, you can most certainly use soundfonts in NNXT. I have done so plenty of times.
