Help - file not loading - file has has grown hugely

Hi,
A song that I was working fine last night will not load at all tonight. No setting have been changed on my pc sice it was last open.
Looking at the size of it, the early version was 0.6mb , then a later version was 6mb and the version I want, which will not load, is 16mb!
This is not the audio files just the song data.
When I try to load it, the timer comes up and just stays up forever. If you click anything then the programme changes to 'not responding'.
Can anyone tell me how i might be able to get it to load.
