crashing 2.1.1 during clip recording

Alex,

I'm moving this to it's own thread per your suggestion. Thanks for your concern :)

I have isolated the problem a bit more:

Record first clip on a track, in either clip or track view in the chooser window = OK

Record another clip on a different track, in either view = OK

Record another clip on the same track, in track view = OK

but

Record another clip on the same track, in clip view = LOCK UP :(

The lockup happens just after i click on the clip record button - it shows the first little bit of the waveform being recorded and then freezes the screen. I've been doing this with the metronome, so after the freeze i just hear metronome clicks, and can't stop them without killing the program.

I don't have this problem in 2.0.3

Thanks again

Hi longjohns,

- does it happen also when you set a another record directoy in Live's preferences dialog?
- does it happens also when recording from other input sources like Master Out or Reason?

regards,
Alex

from what i can tell, pretty much the same problem with using reason as the input.

here's an interesting sequence of events, recording reason output as clips on a single track in session view:

record first clip with track view - OK
record second clip with track view - OK
record third clip with clip view, but using the scene start button instead of the red clip record button in the track's clip box - OK
record fourth clip, with clip view, but back to using clip record button - OK (!!)
record fifth clip, clip view, with clip record button - CRASH

unfortunately, i'm afraid the patterns i thought i was seeing are now dissolving....

thanks again for your help, alex!

Hi Longjohns,

I'm having the same trouble with Reason too, no matter which directory I choose for the record folder and it seems to be on any clip slot.

Do you record Reasons input into Live direct from the device or after it's been copied to the track, therefore the input into Live comes from the Reason sequencer, I'm not sure which you're meant to do or if it matters.

i'm not sure if i understand your question, richard. what i do is select 'reason' as the input on a given track, then enable clip recording on that track, then hit the red clip record button in any of the clip slots for that track.

when i'm crashing (generally) seems to be the second clip recorded on a track when viewing the waveform in the clip view window @ bottom of screen

Same problem here....

Same problem here on PC p3/800 xp sp1 with echo indigo or hammerfall dsp.
Screen freezes when recording a track. (no crash, but have to wait about 1 min.,then it continues) After the freeze, the recorded clip shows up a loop count of about 555000! 1min = 555000 ?
Screen freezes the same way if zooming a clip very close or when zooming a big arrangement.

Perhaps something went wrong with the graphic-engine?
No probs with 2.0.3....

Well somewhat similar - bottom line is a lot of hanging -
hard reboots guaranteed each time I try to do anything at all. Switched to different computers ( keeping same video, audiowerk8 card, and hard drives)

2.03 was a little bit like this - but 2.11 is more regularly failing.

At first I thought it was the Amplitube plug in but having removed it it still freezes up... I think the graphic elements of the application in general are simply unstable....

i'm having similar issues. live keeps freezing to the point where i have to do a hard reboot. sometimes it lets me record short loops... but then it will freeze. it seems somewhat unpredictable but is in any case, totally unreliable... has meant i've not been able to do much work.

am sending an e-mail to support now.

i'm on a g3 500 iBook w/ Mbox.
