How can I keep these clips at 8 bars?

edit: so that image didn't work out..
it keeps slipping from 8 full to 7-3-3 when I putter around with it on my sl25. I use this knob to change the size of my clip but it won't go back to the full 8 bars. ANy suggestions?
I have a packed set tommorrow so I may not even get to use this technique, but if there was a quick slution or suggestions on how to best implement or improve this technique please share!
Similiarly, it would be great If I could adjust the multiplier on this bad-boy!
