there seems to be a limit to the amount of audio i can use in abelton. i am using a 1ghz g4 powerbook with os x and 512mb of ram. if i add additional ram, will this increase the amount of audio i can load in or is it a fixed limit?
thanks.

Hello,
What problems did you get? How many files do you load?
Best,

Hello,
Sorry to barge in on this, but I have almost the same setup as Stirmonster (with a bit more RAM), and the same problem.
I set up about 7 loops from Reason (2.5) and the problems began by adding to this 3 self-recorded loops of vocals. When I tried to overlap two of these vocal loops, the 'feedback', distortion and cpu seemed ready to go through the roof...
When I moved the vocal loop away from the overlappiing it handled it fine, but of course that is not how I really wanted to set it up.
Thanks,
Jonathan

i am using it in my dj sets and have around 300+ loops. when i try to import a new one i get an error message "can't open ....asd". it also won't allow me to save. however, if i delete an existing loop it will allow me to import and save.

Sorry again stirmonster, I hope we will not be having a useless conversation with ourselves....
I loaded 17 clips (listening to each one, then deciding to keep it) into a set and then when I loaded the 18th, all of the other clips just vanished...They did not return when I tried to 'undo/redo'. I had to quit Live (2.1) to get them all back. I went through the same process again, and the second time all my clips vanished on the 16th attempt. Again, I was only able to get them back by quitting Live. Fortunately I am conditioning myself to hit 'save' with each revision....
Please help us Abletons.
thanks,
Jonathan

Ok I am an idiot. When dragging the files into session, it is possible to inadvertently drag all the other tracks up and away as well, hence the disappearing tracks, and this time I added 16 without a problem...
However, my first posting, about overlaying certain clips, remains a vaild issue.

Stirmonster,
Did you get the "can“t open ...asd" message with all files or just with one?
Maybe a corrupt .wav/.aiff/.asd file?
