Weird MIDI -latency issue

Ok, first of all hi to everyone. Before I explain the problem, I explain how and why I got to this situation. So, about a month ago I decided to give up on music, and put my gear for sale. However I did only get to selling my soundcard, leaving me with all my other stuff.

Ok, so yesterday I decided that it was not time to quit music, and rebuilt my setup, only with the exception that now I'm stuck with an integrated AC97 chip.

So to the problem then. I use an M-Audio Midisport 2x2 to transfer MIDI to and from my Novation Nova. The MIDI input to Live is done by a CME UF 5 keyboard. Sounds rosy, eh? yeah, so thought too.

Now when I play the Nova there's no noticeable latency whatsoever. But when I record notes, and start playing the clip back, it plays waaaaaay off sync. I have to use the track delays, and adjust the Novas MIDI track by -64ms.

Considering that when I play the Nova, it play with no latency, but when I play the clip back it gets f*cked up, I decided to ask here whether someone could help?

THX in advance

Peace out

-Sahaquiel

P.S Yes, I'm going to buy a new soundcard when I have the money :D

Any MIDI system will have SOME latency; yours seems high, though.
A couple things come to mind...

1) Are you exceeding the Nova's polyphony limits anywhere (long release times and the like)? MIDI timing will crap out when the polyphony's exceeded...

2) Avoid multitimbrality like the plague- same thing. Your timing WILL go down the tubes.

No, a mono lead.

Even though it does it on any sound.

I mean I do consider that I know something about these thing but this really beats me. :D

And yeah, 64ms is _quite_ high
