This whole Live version 6 has taken us all by surprise...

Nearly all of the features everyone has requested have been ignored in favor of video support (WTF?) and a sampler, which Live already is and have been redundant once already with Simpler...

Simpler is unchanged from Live5. It has been made vastly more useful with the new instrument racks, though.

Sampler has:

* Built in multisampling capabilities. You can load several samples and make key groups, so a certain range will only trigger a specific sample. Keymaps can overlap, so as to layer samples.

* An FM/AM oscillator with the Operator waveforms to make mad sounds.

* A couple of LFOs with flexible modulation, like loop start/loop length, etc.

* A morphing filter, which can move beween lp, bp, hp, and notch characteristics at the twist of a knob (and sounds well de la wicked).

Amongst other things.

It also imports a number of standard sample library formats.

Pitch me baby! Pitch me! Why do I want to spend $200 more for this thing when I already have Simpler?

It says the new instrument library can be played with simpler... So is simpler handling multi-samples now?

let's see... Sampler can import libraries in all these formats:


AKAI S1000,
AKAI S3000,
GigaStudio,
EXS,
SoundFont
(non-encrypted) Kontakt.

i've still been waiting for NI to make Kontakt a UB, and you know what... i'm not even go back to it once they do. my Kontakt and Giga libraries are loading just fine in Sampler.

Am I correct in assuming there will be no upgrade price for sampler? In other words Live 5 registered users will need to pay the same price for Sampler as a new Live user?

Simpler loads and plays the EIC,(Essential Instrument Collection) which are multisamples and is in our own Live Pack format.

Sampler allows you to import 3rd-party libraries that you may already own. You can also create multisamples with Sampler, which you cannot do with Simpler.

Sampler is a new product; there's nothing to upgrade from.

We will also have some combo pricing for Live 5 upgrades + Sampler.

This will be some sort of savings. We will reveal this pricing later.
