What I wonder is, can the lcd display show other values than numerical? Say for example I want to edit a lfo waveform in the autofilter, can the display show sine/rect/tri/etc as its value instead of plain numbers? Is it something live would have to send back to the unit or is it programmable in the remote sl software editor?

in my limited time messin around with this (just got it yesterday) I did come across the ability to edit the text.
As I recall, when you're controlling the device you want to edit, push EDIT on the SL, adjust the knob/ fader/ button you want to change then I thikn you press up on the LEFT ^ and you get some options to change text and what not.
This may be enough info to get you started in the right direction but I know theres guys here who know this thing way better than me

With automap you get what you get, you cannot edit automapped parameters. In some automapped controls they do show up as something other than numbers, things like names of filter shapes.
With MIDI assignments, you see the CC value, note value, etc that you set the control to.
IOW no, you can't set it like that with MIDI, you can't edit it with automap but some automap parameters come like that.

if there is a possibility of the unit showing non-numerical values, why not let the user edit that then? What good is a lcd display if it shows number value when it should be different types of waveforms? Anyways, what in Live is automapped? If I have an effectstrip composed solely of live effects (beat repeat, grain delay etc.), will it automap correctly? What third party effects are compatible with the automap feature?
