ASIO gone mad since installing Reason

i recently bought Reason 3 and M-Audio firewire - since installing ASIO has gone barking mad (old chap)

i can no longer use ASIO4all in Ableton - i am now using the Lexicon USB option which is ok except i have only 1 out - master cue and cannot use a cue out - which is not helpful as i use Live for dj-ing also

the ASIO control panel tells me that my realtek AC97 and all ins and outs on my Lexicon sound card are available but i cant even route a cue out to the realtek so that i put my headphones into my laptop

In Reason - if i choose ASIO4all then it will display it in the preferences/audio card driver box it will show this option for about 10 seconds and then disconnect its self and show "no sound" again

if i choose the ASIO M-Audio option i get no sound - so i have to choose ASIO Lexicon USB option which works but with a latency of 183ms and the buffer size option greyed out

after the first problems i had getting ASIO to work with Ableton i do believe im switching to MAC at christmas

hjalp!

Make sure that play in background isn't checked in Reason's audio preferences page. Otherwise, Reason will reserve your specified driver for its own use.

Buzby...ASIO4ALL is good if you use a shit sound card which has no ASIO of its own.
I would strongly advise
A. You download the asio driver for your lexicon sound card and use that if its recent.
B. Don't be put off ... ASIO is great I used it for ages before I had a mac and could route audio in and out of my soundcard (Creamware) and do everything I can do with my Mac.
C. Check M-Audio (These drivers can cause problems), make sure you have latest ASIO for this.

Try individual Cards first and see if you can get performance (For example Lexicon) using just one. I have problems on Mac by trying to use certain combinations.
I hope this helps you...

hi kinetic

thanks for the reply - i uninstalled asio4all and downloaded the lexicon asio - i have downloaded the m-audio asio but have nt found the need to install it

i mean everything works ok - the only problem now is that i have one out on ableton - the master out and ive forgotten how to route the cue out to my realtek so that i can cue from my laptop

i'll post something on tips and tricks soon if i dont work it out

cant wait to get a mac though - it drives me nuts that i seem to get these set up and asio problems with my pc and when my friend comes round he - for example - plugs in my omega or whatever and hey feckin presto - its all just fine and dandy
