Can you insert time in the beginning of a recorded audio clip?

I cant seem to figure it out! Doesnt seem you can add time at the start!

Probably the best bet....

Unlink the envelope
Make it longer then the loop
Turn the volume down at the start.
Make sure 1 is where u want it.

If it's a loop u want silent for a bar, then to turn up then that's easy.
If it's something more irregular u may have to play with sample offset or
something. or just edit it in a sample editor.

Can negative values be put in the start marker position to extend it backwards?

So the answare is, you cant? You must go destructive through 3rd party editor?

In tracktion or cubase, you can move the audio within the clip bouth ways, undestructive.


My workaround so far is to record some extra air in the beginning, befor playing. But if I forget it, I have to do it again, and thats a bitch if you were into some groovy zone you cant repeat!

What exactly is it and how much "air" at the start is needed?

Here's what I do:

From Session View:

1) Drag the clip you want to modify to Arrange view (by dragging it to the little horizonal bars icon that switches you to arrange)

2) Drop the clip on your channel anywhere you want

3) Use your mouse to select the whole clip, plus however many bars in front (or in back) of the clip.

4) Ctrl+J to consolidate

5) Drag clip back to session view

6) Go make a sandwich, cause all that work made you tired.


Omit #6, and you'll be on your way to greatness.

i think this will be a feature of live 6

High lite the extra space you want to add (ie.the 1st 8 bars)
-ctrl + I This will move everthing over and not delete anything. This works anywhere in the music...

It is exactly a recorded audio clip!

About 1 to 3 beats of air is needed, just a second is enough!

But you cant high lite before 0 in session mode.
