Hya,

Does anyone know (or have resources) of the most successful electronic musicians in the world?

Kraftwerk, Underworld, maybe?

But, it's all subjective really? successful, measured by what standard? Popularity? Monetarily? Electronic music, huh? Nine Inch Nails, electronic? What's actually considered non-electronic anymore? Isn't everything really, except acoustic?

Hey Stinky,

Thanks for input...I'm talking about popularity/monetarily mostly. Also, I'm trying to somehow rule out those who are "singer/songwriters" and focus on just those who do "electronic" or a mix of audio and electronic like Bob Holroyd for example.

Peace,
Craig

Bob Holroyd, who? Just joking. But seriously, i wouldn't put him in the ballpark. Perhaps Underworld or BT. Maybe Paul Oakenfold, or Sasha. They all make the big bucks. BT and Oakenfold have done movie scores. Sasha pulls in one show more than most (I've heard anywhere from $10,000 to $25,000.) I don't think it's Tiesto, but he did the Olympics, so who knows.

First you need to define "electronic music", cc.

Most pop-producers - while not being singer/songwriters - are actually producing more or less fully electronic music these days. Soooo:

Dr.Dre, Timbaland, Neptunes.

yes, in terms of sheer lucre, I think aphex twin has it over bjork although bjork is more widely known.

It's kind of interesting that for a long time the people who have heavily incorporated electronic into their more mainstream stuff, like Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel, have done well, and as of late just about every pop star from Madonna to Paris Hilton have been borrowing heavilyt from electronic and have done very well. It seems to be very possible to have a 'pure electronic hit' in Europe and even Australia, but not in the US.
