hey abes and beta testers -

live 6 looks awesome!! i can't wait to implement it in my studio...

however, i haven't seen a lot of new features mentioned for all the ableton DJs out there - any minor upgrades worth mentioning on that front?

perhaps most importantly, have they finally integrated *proper* mp3 support?? i'm getting pretty tired of the .wav conversion cache method...

looking forward to the upgrade...

:)

What kind of new features for DJs?
It has all.
And who cares about mp3,the mp3 quality is not good.
you have the best program,to perform- produce- dj with it.Try to use right.

Yeah and I'd to know also

Live 6 takes as much time to 'analyse' a track - probs converting it to WAV still.

I just love peeps who slag off other people's questions BUT expect theirs to be answered all the time.

If you don't wanna answer it, ignore it and let others do so.
Try to use it right
How about you 'Try to be less condescending'?

i suppose it's subjective, but in my experience with the compression applied on most club soundsystems, the difference between a 320kbps mp3 and a wave file is nominal at best, if not completely indistinguishable for the most part...

that said, ableton's current wave conversion takes up far too much space on my hard-drive. the primary benefit of the mp3 format (file compression which frees up disk space) is almost entirely negated by ableton's "mp3 support" converting everything to wave. whenever i do a dj set, i have to clear room on my hard-drive - that's why this is such a priority for me, and presumably others as well...

if traktor can feature full mp3 support, i don't see why ableton can't!! so if it hasn't been implemented in version 6, my fingers are certainly crossed for the next update...

/still can't wait for six! :)
//full live user: production, remixing & djing.
///ableton *is* the future... :D

MP3 320 is just fine, the human ear cant catch the missing freqs and such unless on a pro monitor system... And your monitors are short of real pro quality so... whatever... And I like the fact your room looks like it has been treated for the best acoustics.

As for using Live right, I think your bland beat, and flat tone is nothing to brag about. If your Live sets are as thrilling as your music on MySpace I would not talk down to people. Using the same drum loop with no edits for a whole track and adding a few cheese synths, does not make it good.

I could proly go on but I am not as rude as you... 8)

And dont get mad and flame me, I am just stating truths you seem to not know.

Live is much more than a jukebox or playback engine. I am not a coder, but can imagine it might be difficult to keep mp3's as they are and be able to edit with them, apply complex effects, create samples, etc all in realtime...

The new "Racks" feauture is an incredible DJ feature!! It's 5:30am...I've been up all night jamming those macros!!

You can take a track and totally fuck it up sideways and back with a single knob:)

has the browser been improved for djing use?

I'd like to remember you that Djing means playing the right tune at the right moment. It's not like playing a pre-planned Live set.

The browser's a perfect example of how taking better care of DJs helps everyone. I'm excited about bookmarks, but waiting for clip colors and preview scrubbing.

To me, the only time DJs seem to have been left out in the cold a little on 6 is the inability to set a clip's warping as master from the session side. I am insanely excited about that one, but it's gonna have me tabbing over to arrange to drop tracks.

if i wanted to use traktor, i would have bought it already - but of course, it doesn't come close to providing the functionality of ableton, so i don't think i would ever consider it...

good point, this is very true - i'm sure the coding for full mp3 functionality isn't necessarily a piece of cake...

the way i like to configure my dj sets in ableton though, i prefer to have all my files preloaded into session tracks. if i'm essentially going to be forced to drag them in from the browser, ableton will at least need to address some of the start point offset bugs i've experienced with autowarping on long mp3 files (even when saved with proper warp points)...

i don't mean to be pesky about this, but i'd love a straight answer from someone on the ableton team or someone who can verify from the beta - does live 6 feature integrated mp3 support, or does it still rely on converting mp3s to wave in a temporary cache? thanks in advance...
