how can i record the midi from a vst's built in arpeggio?

What im trying to do is record the notes that the VST is spitting out.

In other words when i select a midi track and assign a vst and select one of the vsts's built in arpeggios and push down a key on my keyboard it plays the arpeggio.
thats good, but when i look at the midi clip it doest record the sequence that is coming out of the vst. actually its only recording the one note im pushing down, which makes sense of course, casue im generating a midi note fom my computer.

BUT how do I record the notes that res comiong out of that arps sequence into MIDI notes taht i can edit?

plus its just so hard to loop one of the arp presets , which is what im aiming for. and aftwar ward be able to edit the midi information, and maybe use that same midi sequence with another instrument from a differnet vst or fom the oprerator.

Does anyone understand what im talking about here, please help.

Are you sure that the vst actualy produces a midi output,if so try setting up a second midi track & select your vst/first track in the "midi from" of the second track then record a clip in to this second track.

Not sure if it works as i have no vst's that produce midi.

ahhh thats what itis, thats the info i wasnt looking at.

"vsts do not produce midi"

thanks, at least i understand more of whats going on under the hood.

Well, whats the best way of gettting that arp preset synced with my track. It seems very difficult to get it to play the same way in a track compares to the way it sounds when I play with the VST arp by itself.

do you know what im saying? When I do try to record the arpeggio loop into a miditrack, its like i have to get right at the beginning of the loop or it wont sound right or it drops out.

Is there a note on note off i can set, so it will be right on woth the other tracks?

is there a option in the vst to sync the arp to the tempo, then just record your note press into a clip & make sure it is positioned on the beat.

ok, i think i got it.

Yea the sync to tempo is set,

and for the midi clip i just dragged a note from the beginning of the bar to the end of the same bar. I suppose thats the way its done. Well it works for now.
thanks
