Live slow on MacOSX

Hi I have the latest version of Live (legal) and the latest OS-X (legal 
)
I have been working with it for a while, and it worked perfect... suddenly one day, the tune I was working with was playing in half tempo, even if the tempo was set to 120 bpm. It was crackling and scratching... It didnt play well before I removed all the vst´s from the audio files.. and the cpu meter was up to 70 - 80 % (I have played around with that tune for a while without adding any new vst or audio, it just happened one day)
Now that I´m working with a new tune, I have added 4 audio files and one Ableton plugin, and the CPU is already up to 50%
How come it just suddenly became so slow.. it´s useless like this.
Any suggestions?? Please
