Live 5.2, ASIO, Terratec DMX 6Fire: No input from microphone

Greetings,

I wanted to try out Ableton live and got the download, which, if I understand correctly should play and record without limitations, but cannot save.

I have tried the above configuration with said download. When I set Live to use ASIO (The dmx has its own ASIO driver) I have the problem that Live does not register any input from my microphone. The terratec soundcard has a breakout box with its own Mic input. The control panel of the Soundcard registers the input just fine, but the signal does not reach the Ableton Live App. I have turned on all in and outputs in the sound hardware configuration. I have also tried ASIO4All, but nothing.

When I switch to DirectX, I am able to record input, but the latency makes this a rather disgusting option.
Am I missing something, what else could be bugged?

In the vain hope of somebody knowing what could be done...

Have the same problem myself, tried with different drivers different control panel settings without any luck.
All other audio software that I have works.
Maybe it's better to search for help at Terratec?

Please report here if you find a solution.

Hi there,
just yesterday I figured out it was more or less sillyness on my side (then again, I am a couple of days further into understanding ableton live)...

I found that the mic input was coming through different ext.in channels than I would have thought...in my case channels 5/6 work for the microphone. On another note, in the control panel of my terratec card the mic must not be muted in order to arrive at "Live".
I found that you can change that setting in the Session view in a dropdown just below the dropdown box where it says Ext.in (above the volume slider of a track somewhere...). There you can select the channel and with some luck you are in the same situation as I was.

Let me know, cheers
