aside from all that, just get another 1 GB of RAM and make sure your settings for audio aren't too low.
The Macbook works great, so it is probably a matter of memory and settings.

Just to be clear, because i know it wasn't apparent, i wrote this:

not because he only bought 512 ram, but because his title was "so i got a macbook and its shite" and then his first line was "well, at least i got your attention"

Hi,
Are you using the Universal Binary version of Live, which is Live 5.2.1?

That's funny, i'm able to read my posts just fine, and i don't see me calling you stupid once. Sure must have my beer goggles on or something. I made the statement because buying a computer now and buying only 512 ram for it is not a very wise decision. Getting anything less 1gb is not going to allow your puter much time for longevity. And, buying the ram later will probably be more expensive than the discount you usually get when you buy the components together at once. Not to mention the fact the you're only getting a 512mb chip, and not a 1gb chip, which means you'll probably only be able to put in 1gb later, for a total of 1.5. If you got the gb now, you'd be able to buy a 1gb chip later, for a total of 2gb. Ram is pretty important when you're working on audio. And, just because you're only djing on that machine, doesn't mean you're not going to want to use it for prod later.

you should be able to read my posts too
I am using the macintel version5.2.1
the ram was much cheaper online than in store
and I get a discount with the employee purchase program
I upped the soundcard to 96khz and its a bit better, but still glitchy

the first part of that applies at most places...but not apple. apple ram is simply more expensive. always. for example. i downgraded my ram to 512 and bought 2 q gb sticks on the cheap and came out spending 40 bucks on 2gb.
i will agree that you should have bought it wil a 1gb stick, but apple doesnt solder one chip on with the macbooks, so no irreversible harm has been done.
seriously though, i suggest at least 1 GB. OS X can run on less, but it doenst make sense to run with less when performance is considered.
and one last thing, i've found that running any app that requires rosetta while i run live causes pos and clicks. might just be me...but i thought that was worth knowing.
