Who's using Impulse as their main beat-maker?

I wanna know how many of you love Impulse and use it almost exclusively - and why!
I'm new to Live 5, but I am really digging Impulse. I've had my heart set on Guru, but now I'm questioning whether I even need it. The built-in sound-shaping is great, you can process individual hits, and quite frankly I like the eight pad limitation - keeps it simple, and if I need more pads I just open a new Impulse!
I've heard talk of a bug where the start of imported hits will crackle or something, what's the story on that? Is it a deal-breaker? (That would be a shame).
I also have seen how in Live 6 the racks are going to take Impulse to a whole other level. Any more elaboration on that (now that the beta is out in full force) would also be cool!
So - is Impulse the biz or what???

I use impulse for quite a few reasons. but mainly it's because it has drag and drop capabilities with live. I can drop an operator into a track and throw vintage warmer on it and eq it and run it through guitar rig and sonic maximize it, then resample it onto another track, and then drop it right into impulse.
the 8 pad limitation can be good to like you said, keeps it simple. but in live 6 you will easily be able to stack multiple impulses into one track side by side or on top of each other which will make it easier to create larger kits or layer sounds.
I like it because of drag and drop, it's simple and straight forward, and no frills.
guru is a cpu beast and I didn't like it at all to be honost.

I always use Impulse to start a scratch track. It's right there. If I get going and then want to develop it more I might recreate my parts in Stylus or Battery. I haven't been hindered by Impulse limitations yet though.

yeah, i use impulse quite a lot and almost exclusively, laying out a drum pattern and sampling a melody over the top of that from chops. i think it's quite well for what it does. i haven't had much experience with anything else, but from i get with this i don't see anything being so much better.

intuitive and straightforward is definetly the key to making good music. I don't know how many times I opened arturia moog modular or arp2600 and just sat there looking at it wondering "how do I change the filter.... hm...."
if you can't figure something out instantly then it's only standing in your way. not that there aren't benefits to learning new toys that aren't super easy to use, but you have to draw a line between the two and go with what gets the job done.

I love it because of the flexibility. If I don't like the 909 snare I can easily drop in that 707 snare or some glitch sample I made.

Sample size limit in Impulse?

Given that all of us here use Impulse a lot....my question is: Is there a sample size limitation that you can use in Impulse? I've tried dragging longer (several second) clips but they don't work. Is this something that Sampler would solve? I like the current set-up and use my Trigger Finger for Impulse so don't want to have to re-map things....am I being lazy? possibly... Stupid? You tell me....
thx for any info...

for me personally the click on the end bug (which is getting addressed in 6 BTW) is not a deal breaker because - as you pointed out impulse is limited to 8 and it really doesnt take long to pull the length or decay back a smidgeon on eight samples
I actually really like impulse as is - of course it's even better now that you can rack them together, and as soon as you can have all of the keys named in the midi editor by default then it's a done deal

I love Impulse, easy to use, awesome live w/ my Trigger Finger. I'm a drummer and remap things so I have Snare-BassDrum. That's also the plus.. put things where ev er whenever!
Wish for L6 to rack 2 together. but not important...

All it needs now is send knobs on the slots and a fix for that damn sample preview thing.
