Rewiring Live to itself

First of all I'm usually not using Rewire as I don't need it in my book ... however yesterday I tried to slave one instance of Live to another ... but Live didn't show up in the dropdown menu where I would expect it .

I tested this on some previous releases as well with the same - negative - result .

For me it's not a big point but I think it might be to others.

Any pointers what I could test to locate the problem ?

I've just noticed following.

When I start up my computer launch Live [2.1.2] and than another instance of Live , at that moment I can slave the second copy to the first opened instance [as it should be ] .

However when I close both , first the slave , than the master from that moment on I can't use rewire anymore or I have to go through a reboot.

As an addition, The Live Rewire Master IS recognized as such by the Live Rewire Slave [ the pop-up screen appears ] but the slave doesn't show up in the dropdown list where you'd expect it to ...

[ Can anyone reproduce this ? ]

hmm

Mbazzy, I know you know what you are doing, but...

why would you want to rewire live to itself? I don't get it.

Well, if i would ever do it, it would be to switch in between different sets without interruption . But i also want[ed] to do it to check out how Rewire works and i don't have any other Rewire application [ in fact I don't like Rewire/Reason ... but that's on a sidenote ] ... that's how I encountered this little problem .

[Btw can you reproduce this behaviour ? ]

Just got reply from Christian Kleine on this subject : Live can't be rewired to another instance of Live due to Rewire & audio specifications ...
