Hi there.

So I've been using Ableton, but just got a new Mac. It has Garage Band and I've enjoyed using it. There are samples I would like to export to Ableton, but can't find a way. Is there way to save it in wav format or something like that?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm only answering your question under the assumption you're hot, if you're not then well...

Ableton will inport Wav's AIFF and MP3's so you just have to find your samples in the browser to the left there and drag and drop

^^^ that's if you're hot

if you happen not to be hot

READ THE F*CKING MANUAL! Why the hell am I wasting my goddam time niggaz got sh*t to do besides answer whack ass questions like this

if you're hot

Might I suggest reading the manual - it's in PDF form and you can read it at your leisure - lots of good information in there - but don't be afraid to ask questions anytime - actually PM me with any questions, I'm always here to help - BIG SMILEY :) Take care, Adonis!

Garageband uses a format called Appleloops that is not compatible with Live, but does taste quite lovely with a bowl and some milk in the morning. What you'd have to do is load a sample into a track in Garageband, and render the "song" as a WAV file. Then you could use that WAV file through the browser in Live and use it in a set.

I don't think so... not if they're in the state of being Appleloops. I've never been able to access them from Live's browser... I don't think.

Actually you know what, they are there - I remember when I had my mini they're in like the preferences (I think) folder (The folder where all your VST's and what not are kept or something like that) - you have to dig for them but the apple loops reference the actual AIFF's

Give it shot - they're there I'm willing to bet

I found them and put them in my loops folder and was able to access all the apple loops in Live - really nice synth pads, conga loops - yep

i know it

I love you

A bet? Sounds like you're challenging me to an Appleloopoff!

This is dangerous territory man, one of us could get hurt. :|

Not true. I use three of the GarageBand Jam Packs in Live. Apple Loops work perfectly well. No need to export, render before use, etc. Just drag and drop like you would any other sample.
