I have a Mac Book Pro running Live 5.2.1. Live will see AU plug-ins, except Absynth 3, and will not see any VSTs that i have, Pluggo and Absysnth. My old G4 Power Book running Live 5.2.1 works fine with AU and VST plug-ins.

Anyone with similar problems? Any solutions or things I can try?

Are your plugins updated to Universal Binary versions?

They need to be to run on the MacBookPro. Check the manufacturers websites for more info and download updated versions

Absynth 3 isn't coded for intel macs yet.

until it is, you won't be able to use it in Live on an Intel Mac running OSX.

Thanks Pitch Black, I visited the Cycling74 and NI sites, and I now see that it will be closer to the end of the year before Pluggo and Absynth are ready for intel based Macs.

I don't post to often but I check in a lot. I've read that you could force Live 5 to run within Rosetta and at that time it should see all of your old plugs. Of course because everything is running in emulation mode your cpu/track count will suck. BUT you could still get a track or few out of Absynth, render it out. Reboot Live without Rosetta and "for now" you sort of have the best of both worlds until a Universal Binary plug in version comes out.

Here's how you can force a Universal application to open using Rosetta:

Click the application's icon in the Finder, such as Safari's icon.
From the Finder File menu, choose Get Info (or press Command-I).
Select the checkbox named "Open using Rosetta."
Close the Get Info window.

I still have my old G4 lappie with Live and all the plugs. So I'll continue to use both if I need to, and wait for the Universal Binary versions to come out. But thanks for the tip, it's there if I need it. This gives me an excuse to explore Operator and the Live plugs more!

Hmm it is really bad that many applications not work on the macbook pro yet! I have the same problem, spend 2500 euro, and many applications don't work like they shut be. I have to wait months before it will work proper. Also programs like photoshop, flash etc. If u have the universal binary version it kicks ass! SO FAST can't wait.

So I don't really know what you mean?
Isn't everybody doing what NI's doing right now?

scroll down to the end of that page on NI's site, it says:

Ok...I realize that. But I didn't say anything about company support now...LOL!
I'm talking about inspiration....and getting some work done anyway, any how!
It'll work for the time being. It's all about getting the idea down isn't it guys? In the mean time you know it's all going to happen by the end of this year more or less right?

He's not going to get any work done that way- running under Rosetta's going to make his G4 look like a speed demon in comparison...

I totally understand what your saying. But I'm only saying to get a part down and export the file. That's it!

i'm running into the same problems with not being able to run non-intel vsts on my new macbook. does anybody know about any programs that can let me run vsts on another machine the way fx teleport does, only with a mac and a pc?
