Please HELP !! Monitoring a clip whilst OVERDUBBING

Hi,

I tried the search function on this but got back so many results I couldn't read through them all. So here is my problem..

Once I have recorded midi into a clip and the clip is playing normally I can't seem to monitor the sounds from the VSTI (battery) to be able to overdub more notes into the same clip. If I turn the monitor switch to on I can hear the notes that I am playing but then the sound of the recorded clip dissapears !

Any solution ? or maybe I have overlooked something simple ???

hmm. here are some ideas since nobody responded. i can't test them right this second

first, do you have the midi overdub button on? (OVR button in the transport)

second, can you consider using two tracks for your instrument, one only for monitoring input, set to IN, the other only for recording and playing back clips, set to OFF ( i don't think you could set to auto, because then you'd double your signal when recording a clip)

i think this may work best in arrange view

Hey cool i'll give that a go so long as I don't have to create 2 of the sample VSTI's and plugins per track, that would suck.

Thanks for your reply dude!
