Time signature changes

Post by udp » Wed Aug 16, 2006 3:20 am

My request is probably too late for Live 6, but I've made it before versions 4 and 5 also. Musically it's quite simple , but probably hard to code. I'd like to be able to mix time signatures within a project. Yes now you can do sperate projects IE 1 in 4/4 then one in 3/4 then 4/4 again, and combine them. I mean 11/8, 3/4, 7/8,3/8 ect... all mixed up. This is my only wish.

I have requested this several times in the past and I'll do so again now. Not all Live users are dance DJ's, and at least some of us work in a variety of meters within a single song. We should be able to change meter on a per-scene basis, just like tempo changes. Please!

*bump*

This is the only serious limitation in Ableton the prevents us from buying it - otherwise, a great piece of software!

Please please please add time signature changes to a future release!

Cheers,

Jon

Multiple time signatures

Post by nylonius » Sat Sep 02, 2006 7:17 pm

This is really, really disappointing. Once again a version of A.L. without this basic feature. There's a huge number of potential A.L. users who would need this. There are multiple time signatures in most music used in the theatre, movies and dance (theatre). It's by no means 'experimental'. Besides, it would be nice to play 'All You Need Is Love' or Blondie's 'Heart of Glass' without workarounds.

when i start changing meters with Live, I find that I have to ignore the click and the grid. it can work well sometimes, but gets tricky with beat repeat.

well i was just doing something that i decided I would rather record to a precise click (alternating 5/8 4/4 6/8 4/4) so I launched logic. It froze the whole computer. please add time signature automation!

Please! it's the one thing stopping me from ONLY using Live. Now that the video feature has been implemented in v6, adding Time Sign. Changes really would make it a Soundtrack Composers dream.

I agree to the posts before! The possibilty of putting time signature changes would increase the chance for me to switch to Live as my main composing and performing tool! Please...

Right now i'm making alot of trance music [insert trance jokes here] so it's not an issue but I can forsee working in multiple time signatures again and hope to use Live as the primary composition tool.
