SPDIF>USB Input not working

Hello there, I've been successfully running Live on my Powermac G4 running OSX. I use the M-Audio Duo for my xlr inputs and my monitor outs. Because the duo has no SPDIF Input, I just purchased the Edirol UA-1D SPDIF>>USB Connector. I want to use it so I can input recordings from my portable Tascam DAT recorder.

I was told it is just a plug and play piece of hardware. So upon connecting it to my computer, Live did indeed recognize it. I set Lives Input to the UA-1D while keeping the output to the Duo. I selected LIVE IN to a track but it doesn't get any signal when the DAT plays. In fact, in the bar below "Live In" it still only lists the left and right of the Duo and doesn't even list the Edirol UA-1D.

What can I do? Any advice would help greatly!

I'm running 2.03. I guess I should update my version and try again, right?

Hi,

Yes, at first I would recommend to do this. Latest Live 2 version is 2.1.2. You can run this version parallel to version 2.0.3.

Btw. The graphic is much faster within version Live 2.1.2 compared to Live 2.0.3 under OS X, so you should try really use this version.

Hey Alex, I just updated to the new version of Live! Once again, I set my input to Live for the Edirol UA-1D. What differs in this version of Live compared to the last was that it does indeed recognize the UA-1D in the drop-down bars on the track I have selected with Live In. However, I get no signal coming into the track. I activate the "microphone" button, I play something from my DAT out through the SPDIF in through the UA-1D...nothing! :x

Hi,

at first you should check if you can hear the incoming signal within another application to get sure that the interface and the connection from the DAT to the Edirol works.

In Live, please select the input section in the BusView (the bus symbol in the right lower corner). If a signal coming in you should see the levels there.

What happens when you select the Edirol interface for in and out? Can you hear/see the inputs then?

regards,
Alex

Alex, I guess all it took was another startup of Live. It works now! Thanks for your help!
