hi ya all
i just wanted to know how do a swap one sample to another sample while keeping it in place on the timeline once iv recorded my set ie:

track 1: newbsampleloop.wav is on time line and i want to swap it out to track 1 newbsampleloop2.wav
in other words keep the mix with all the settings and just put another loop in that place on the timeline without recording the set again?

can this be done ie i click a button and it swaps the sample to another loop keeping all the settings??
thanks all

I'm not sure I totally understand your question, but Live does not have a swap feature, but it has all the usual ctrl-c to copy, ctrl-v to paste functions as well as group select, and mouse ctrl-click options. Just play around with it like you would any other app.

He's on to something and I wonder about this

Say I have track one with a loop on it - however, I've reversed, edited and cut up the loop all through the track

I decide the next day I want a different loop but want to maintain all the edit's cuts etc <-- I don't want to go back in a redo everything

Can I replace the source file so everything changes

Well, you can always press the "Edit" button on the clip so it opens in your favourite sound editor and just paste in another waveform, save and close.

But the results will probably be quite strange unless they are exactly the same length.

It's really the sample we want to change so that each clip reflects the new sample

my problem is the clips are cut and reversed mainly

so track 1 which is 5 minutes long is cut into like 20 different pieces, all referencing one sample

but some pieces are reversed

You have to go in to each individual clip and drag a new loop or audio file into the new clip

I'd rather and I think AVFX would rather just replace one source file all the clips are referencing so they all change at once, automatically

instead of manually going into each clip and dragging a new audio file
