I have a MIDI keyboard with drum sounds on it. Can I, through Ableton 4,
structure a drum sequence? If so, can you give me some ideas where to start and how? Thank you.

Ofcourse you can! Just program a midi clip to send the appropriate midi notes and route it trough your midi interface to your keyboard.

But if you have a basic keyboard with basic drum sounds, I wouldn't bother. It is so much easier and will probably sound much better if you just do it with Impulse inside Live.
