Hi Guys,

I've been thinking of getting 2 faderfox's to use in my live sets, the LV2 and the LX2.

I saw one post about it being inflexible with templates etc if you change things in ur sets.

Can anyone shed any light??

Cheers Guys....

i use a faderfox lx1 and two lv1's ... having these controllers made a massive difference to my productivity.....maybe any controller would have done, I dunno...but these are nice and small

Annnnyways

think about this for a moment, in music...probably one of the most frequent numbers you'll ever come across will be 16 ( or 8 ) ....4 measures to the bar, 4 notes to the measure ...right ?....well, anyways if you want your controller to be useful across the board and in the future, its my advice that you get something with 16 or 8 faders.

version 2 of the faderfoxes is based around the number 6.....6 faders. for 6 tracks...or 12 tracks.....i dunno, I think he went crazy ditching 8 faders in favour of 6....I pretty much wont consider any controller unless it can fit into this basic requirement...

version two faderfoxes....man, it would annoy me even using ableton live (the strange number of faders thing) , but it would definatly render the controllers as useless for me outside of ableton live.......

I hope he realises his mistake for the next units he releases. just one dilletant's opinion.

I'd imagine they are trying to cut costs on this one so they can sell it cheaper and gain more "fans"

Who says they are?

My biggest gripe about my LX2 is trying to remember what everything does! I hate bank switching.

Saving up for a Lemur... pages of instantly-accssible buttons with labels for those of us with crap memories!

yes you can. And with a little max patch here and there... Fun all around. Though i might part with my LX1 soon in favor for a newer model.
I think that Mathias is aiming for a release in december. So any request you have should be mailed to him now.

Though as a fun topic (for a change ;) )
We might discuss a layout we all agree upon. Make a mock-up and get him working in CAD.
Something tells me that a person who makes controllers for live users, might actually take our advise.
And with automapping in mind, a "perfect" controller would probably be different from the current line...

And maybe we could get custom printing jobs for the controller.. Or at least some layouts to choose from.
With faderfox you pay a price. And for most people it's worth the cost. Because these things are built like tanks.
We might as well try to branch out.
Ableton already listens to us. Now it's time to get the hardware developers to stop releasing 800 different models of shitty usb keyboards.
And actually produce something useful for a change.

Lego should make midi hardware

IMO, it won't work. Everyone has different requirements for a controller. Modular or software-configurable is the way to go.

it was -kind of- implied.
you want to control 16 tracks with a 6 track controller...switching banks is gonna be useless unless the faders jump to the correct position, you dig ?

two lv1s = 16 faders ... ya, we face the same problem if we want to control more then 16 tracks......
but hey, I want to at least make it to 8 faders (16 ideally - which I've achieved) before I have to think about switching banks and moving faders to where they should be. basing the controller around 6 & 12 tracks ...is a stupid move, imo.

Agreed... I don't like the 12-button LX2 layout, or switching between the 3 banks. I've lost too many memory brain cells...

IMO, unless you need to grab a handful of faders, the rotary encoder principle on the BCR2000 works great for bank switching. The LEDs jump to the new position, so there's no problem as with non-motorised faders.

Compliants? Switching banks and the physical size of the units. I know some people like the small size for portability but they're much too small for me. I like to get a bit physical with my mixer and it just is silly trying to muscle around the faders on a faderfox. That said, they are the best controller I've ever use for Ableton but to me that just says more about the sad state of Ableton controllers. The lemur looks cool but one can't get too physical with a touchscreen now can they?

if you like getting physical, check out the kenton controllers at www.kenton.co.uk (i think)

toughest controllers I've ever laid my hands on, and big, and ready to be tweaked rapidly without the need for a momentary iron-grip

a gripe I have with the lv1 is that the four knobs are [a] too fat too close together
for rapid tweaking and such....so they only ever get assigned to values that I dont want to whip & snap .....for that I use a kenton

hi guys,
can any faderfox users let me know what they understand about this reply to a
point made on this thread:
point was:
" you want to control 16 tracks with a 6 track controller...switching banks is gonna be useless unless the faders jump to the correct position"

faderfox reply was:
"lv2 has a faderpos-view-function
So the leds upper the faders show the position by pressing the shift button"

cheers guys...
