multiple sound cards with live (desktop machine)

This is maybe, not applicable to most people, but.. I noticed the FAQ says that Live does not support multiple sound cards. I think it depends on the card.

I am using an older (I don't think they make 'em anymore) M-Audio Delta 410 PCI audio card, in a self built machine. Actually, 2 Delta 410 cards. The Delta 410 Drivers, can sync up the cards, and see them basically as 'one card'. So, Live sees all ins/outs as if from one card. And no sync problems.

OK, so... maybe there are other types of PCI cards (high end) that would do something similar. Of course, this only applies to desktop style machines.

This is interesting. My Delta Audiophile 2496 manual says you can install up to four Delta soundcards in one system and they can all be accessed from the same driver. Does this mean Live will see multiple M-Audio Delta cards?

nope, it depends on the driver, with ASIO4ALL I can use 2 soundcards at once on my laptop. YMMV. try it, sell ALL the buffers to the same size. all the inputs from your cards will be named as numbers, just try them all.

Well, I'm thinking of upgrading to a Delta 1010LT anyway, so I might try them both together before I take the Audiophile out.

It works!

OK, so I got the 1010LT and installed it alongside my Audiophile 2496. Live can now see and use all the I/O from both cards at the same time! Think I'm going to replace the 2496 with another 1010LT soon.

Thanks to the OP for the tip. :D
