dont.. put the money of the repair towards a cheap CeleronM and get a whole lot more.

serious, the cost of a repair/replace of that magnitude might as well go to a new computer I hate to tell ya.
the monitor on my powerbook broke a few months ago and mac told me it would cost me 900 bucks to fix it. luckily they accidently fixed it without my telling them to do so and the fix turned out to be free. but it the case of a fix that hefty I would totally just use the 900 bucks to go toward a new computer rather than fix a dying one.

fuck i was going to sell it to a friend for $500, other than the (now broken) dvdrw, the specks are really nice.
