hello ableton team.
The nice feature for Video Import is very handy, and the warp features for video material is superb, but i hope all the users (like me) hold the opinion that it is also useless without video export functionality.
and i also think that this is no feature request but a forgotten feature for beta live6 ( that´s what i hope)
so please guys, try to implement that important functionality...
i hardly believe that users rearrange the warped video and sync video stuff to live audio again in premiere..
please please please all the users, post here to help
thx low

The video feature in live 6 is to make music for a video.
Not to produce entire videos.

i think that´s not the point, it would be an additional feature so why don´t implement it,
and i wonder why you can warp the video?? that is absolutly useless when you can not export it.

Has anyone attempted to capture the video using a program like FRAPS that captures what is shown on your screen? It only works on aps that use your 3d card but there has to be a similar program that can just capture the video if you show it in full screen in live. Im sure you could do it by using the video out on a laptop to a camcorder and then grabing it back. Thats a bit excesive though.

I've played around capturing Live video with Snapz Pro X.
A bit of a workaround, but it works!

the video feature is the number one misunderstood feature of live 6 (or any audio app for that matter). having a video track in live is not for editing video. it exists for the purpose of scoring to picture, spotting sound effects, etc. so that the audio can then be exported for use in a video editing app like final cut. its best to think of it as a purely utilitarian tool. it appears that giving live video import functionality was easy (it was said somewhere on the forum), but setting live up for exporting video brings up a whole mess of problems to deal with: the need for support of the overabundance of video compression formats (and how live interacts with quicktime), developing warp modes for video, etc. don't get me wrong, i'd love to see video editing/export in live (warping video would be incredible). but for now i'd suggest trying out a midi controllable video app and using live to control it...there's lots of possibilities there.

People just don't seem to get the intent of Live video import. Maybe the Abes can make it clearer.

Some people would complain if you hung them with a new rope.

you can warp video with live 6 !!!
everyone who try it will be blown away.. it works fantastic..
that would be really a new way to sync audio and video together..
the only thing that is missing is video export.!!!

That feature is there, because video warping added a little side effect that turned into a feature that now works with audio too...
You can use the clip as master clip. The global tempo will be affected by warping the master clip.

There have been quite a few threads on this. Video was just something easy to implement, it's not a major feature in Live. I'd bet half the users will never even try it, 25% will try it a few times and 25% love it, more or less.
I could take it or leave it. I could see this as being a feature in Live 7, another $150 next year.
This is a cool trick I like with video.
- Drop a video into session view
- Put markers on the video in interesting places
- Assign midi notes to those markers.
Now when you hit a key the video jumps to different spots.
For more craziness
- Make a midi loop with midi yoke or by connecting a midi cable from an in to an out.
- In arrange view put those notes into a midi clip
- send the clip out the midi out port with the loop.
With this you can get video to automatically jump to certain spots. Fun with clips in follow mode.
