Audio editors for Mac...

Does anyone recommend a particular audio editor for Mac ? I've been told Quattro DSP is good, but I'm tempted by the price of Bias Peak LE, as I'm on a budget and would only be doing fairly rudimentary editing. Any advice welcome....

said it before and I'll say it again. If audacity doesn't work for you (free), get amadeus II for 30$. (audacity was buggy for me -crashed Live when used as external editor).
Actually, just get amadeus anyways.

like the buddah man says, audacity is amazing for free, but its a hassle using vst/au with it, plus it can crash. but for free its great for simple editting. i use dsp quattro, which i love (they have fantastic customer care, too).

Anything except Peak
Though Audacity was a bit unstable for me too.

Like the BAWJAWS bit, but by the way....

i don't know what he is talking about by saying anything but peak, peak is all i have used for years and it works great. never heard of or used any of that other stuff. if you are on a budget then get peak le 5. i have only used the le versions and they have everything i need an audio editor to do. . you can't go wrong with it .

Peak LE has ridicilous limitations like it isn't supporting 32 bit files. I'm very happy with Wave Editor from AudioFile Engineering. It's also universal. If what they said to me is true, in the next version they will start to use Izotope algorithms for samplerate conversion, dithering and pitch-shifting. Other features are layered audio (like photoshop in a way), smart edits...
check it out;

Audacity is very un-Mac-like, but does the job. I've mainly used the old DSP Quattro SE, but find it a bit slow on my G4. I also tried Peak LE 5 but didn't really like the user interface. Freeverse Sound Studio 3 seems the nicest so far; I think I'll actually buy it when the trial runs out.

Dsp quattro 2.
Little warning. Keep you eyes peeled for a nice discount.
I bought it last year at a xmas special for 60€.
Chances are that they might have that offer again this year.
Great sample editor.
