I have a motif classic hooked up to live and I will record parts in the motif and then want to record them in live through my firebox's inputs I figured out how to press record on an audio track in live and it is synced with the mo to start playing the part from the MO and it record good and everything is fine but I have to stop it then trim it down to the right length. My question is say I want to record a 4 bar part from the Mo into live is there a way for live to send midi to stop the mo right at the 4 bars so I dont have to manually press stop in live and adjust Just press record on the track in live and it triggers the Mo and then after the 4 bars it stops with me just pressing record in live.

the Punch in punch out only works in the arrange view would it be possible to do what I am trying to do in the Sesion View

if you want perfect bar length recordings in session view, then set the global quantize to 1 bar, (or 2 or 4) - the clip will start recording on a bar marker - then hit the same clip slot again and it will stop on a bar marker.
so then the problem is hitting the clip button one more time while you are recording. could you map it to a controller or foot pedal?
using midi loopback you could do it automatically i think, but that's a more complicated solution
