why do you want to do this?
Are you a PC user thats bought a Mac becuase Macs have a different file system that doesnt need defragging it does it itself. It can be done but if you are wanting to do it just because thats what you are use to on a PC forget it. It wont speed things up at all

Yup. Disk Warrior is the way to go. Takes a couple of hours to defrag my hard drive, but improves performance significantly.

in fact, i read somewhere that apple doesn't recommend defrag, because the system optimisation that happens everytime you install a application does the trick, plus the file system.. i'm no system freak anyway.. could be wrong

Apple might say that, but when I defrag my machintosh hd, my computer runs a lot faster.

Hi, there's also "Disk Genius". Which one is better, I don't
know. I use Disk Genius and I'm happy with it.

Disk Warrior does not defrag the disk. It just repairs the directory.
Drive Genius will defrag your disk. Techtool Delux should as well.
All of these programs DO NOT work on the Intel Macs as of yet.

defragging is not a placebo. It makes your computer run faster if you do it on the monthly.
