i have a new toshiba satellite laptop with 4 usb input and a pcmcia slot.there is no fw input.i don't want a usb souncard.i heard they're causing problems.anyway i have two choices:a cardbus souncard or a fw souncard linked through a pcmcia-firewire adapter(i have some fear about this setup, some feedback appreciated)but the problem starts here.i don't want to do multiple records at a time.i want to use it for sampling from turntable and recording sounds with a mic.maybe a guitar input useful in the future but not neccesary.is there anyone recommend me a soundcard or a setup (like an echo indigo IO+a small behringer mixer+a mic)

I would go for an RME card cardbus with multy face or the RPM.With the RPM you can conect also turntables and Mic they are very good.Just look here:www.rme-audio.com

I bought an M-Audio Firewire Audiophile after my MOTU 828 was stolen.

It's reasonably priced, and works just fine for me, but I just do DJ and VST production... no mic recording. So I suppose it depends on what your needs are.

I'm glad I dished out the cash for my Mackie HR624 monitors though... I think that makes a big difference.
