Live cpu pushing 112% D flashing up ??

Live 5 is starting to crash, audio cut out and go mad with over 100% cpu,
the hard drive D button is flashin alot ,

had 7 channels midi, 1 channel audio
4 midi were just impulse wih drum hits
2 were hypersonic piano patchs
1 trilogy
1 audio loop

and live was not having any of it, in the piano parts there were alot of chords but still should be fine ? no effects or compressors, eq etc ?

also i have a sata hard drive (250gig) with 70 gig spare but its still strugglin, also i keep deleting folders from my desktop then empty recycle bin, a few days later i turn on and the folders are back !!!

i want to move all my 80 sample cds off my main hard drive and over to a 2nd hard drive, should i buy another sata drive or an extrenal usb drive,

of course i will be auditioning samples from this 2nd drive im just not sure which would be faster and more stable
and keep my system running more stable and quicker.

is it time to go for live 6 and 64 bit or dual core ?????

thanks DP
my system is p4 3.0 2 gig ddr2 ram, xp sp2, only used for audio nothing else installed.

something is wrong with your computer (duh) - in particular i'm surprised you're getting the disk indicator with one audio track

the cpu issue with the impulses and synths, a bit harder to say. i'd try bouncing all that down to audio and see what happens.

what version live 5?

soundcard? audio settings? midi controllers?

ok firstly i appreciate any help as this is really stopping me enjoy making music,

sound card is Audiophile, live is 5.02 i think,
midi man radium midi keyboard,

not sure about my current settings think cpu is set to 50%
i will have to check the rest, and i can bounce it all down to see if it stil
happens, i was thinking its my hard drive failing i just thought my pc could handle this its not even got any reverbs or fx !!!!

ok got the latest updates and its still struggling,
there is alot of midi data on my keyboard channel chords and such but shouldnt be struggling with just 3 tracks being used ???

is it a ram issue or hard drive or cpu ?
id prefer not to upgrade just yet, is there any programmes i can install and run some checks ?

my audio pc is offline also, so shouldnt have a virus, but ive installed alot of free vst stuff from the web so it is possible

i set the cpu usage to 80% which has helped,

would you recommend getting a new Asus motherboard and 64 bit processor
maybe ??

seen some very cheap deals on www.novatech.co.uk
for bundles

what do you think ?or maybe dual core, as i want to get live 6 really
