live 6 - is the upgrade worth it?

So, before you hit me with your sarcastic "read for yourself" comebacks, please note I have not been on here in a long while or so
After some effort, logged onto my account today and noticed that the live 6 update was on offer (since I am a legit regi user with the live 5 s/n & box). I think that version was 6.0.1, but none the less I downloaded and burnt to cd to transfer to the machine anyway.
But just one thing is stopping me. Up until now I have been using version 5.2 perfectly! and have had NO problems such as those experienced a few months back. Because I have been using that version up until now okay, I asked myself - is the upgrade worth it? - the previous version provided everything and more.
I will not install if it will cause live to crash etc / cause new bugs to show their ugly faces. I want to know if this upgrade / patch is worth the bother. I think it is but lets see?

In a word yes. The new Racks feature alone is worth the upgrade. Download a demo and give it a spin. No harm.

In addition to the Racks (which are excellent) the support for my Core Duo system makes it a no brainer for me - and for anyone to upgrade if they have multicore support. Also the improved metering is very welcome, and export-all-tracks option are big sellers imho. I love this upgrade.

eh - wtf?
I logged in and downloaded the 6.0.1 update right, which I presumed was free, since I was able to obtain it freely in the updates section, installed it ontop of my 5.2 version and its asking for the 6 s/n? - I don't have one?
was gonna pay for the 6 update anyway, but due to the instant access to this update in the downloads section, I thought it was free?

nah come on. This is abit of a dissapointment. A mate said this was just like any other update...so I obtained it. Jeez
if it wasn't a free update, why did I have access to download it in the updates section of the site?

well, luckily for ableton, unlike
some people on the internet, I actually pay for every bit of software I have...so I guess I have no choice indeed
bit of a dirty catch though, that. There was probably a line of text explaining the small print somewhere along the line, just a shame the s/n was requested when I started live after installing that update

rofl
for the fact that I had access to this in the free obtained downloads worries me a little, it's probably normal....I'll contact support and ask there.
other than that I guess I'll just have to miss live for a week and wait to purchase a s/n, doh.

is there anyway I can reinstall the 5.2 patch over 6 without losing all of my work?
that really did not make sense. Browsed back a little way and found people having the same problem.
Aslong as I can get live back to 5.2 fully working how it was previously, don't care for now.

Would not have affected Live 5 at all, but been installed 'beside' it. So no worries... Dont understand exactly what occoured but maybe without the serial it activates in demo mode ? Ask the Abes.
