racks: 2 impulses-->16 pads? how?

hey, i'm trying to use racks to map 2 impulses across 16 notes, say c3-c5.
the problem is, i can't get the impulse's ranges to budge from c3-c4 using the key zone editor.
in case i'm not being clear, i'd like to build a rack that i can play with the 16 pads of my mpc...
surely this is possible, right?

That is a good way to export midi files to mpc
if you can get it working.
bump.

DO not have Live6 - but try transpose-MIDI-plug infront of the second - receive on octave higher and transpose it down.
hope that helps
best

You are the man! I tried it with the pitch tool, worked great.
Thanx

The need of the midi plugin seems very unnecessary, especially if you're using Live 6 with racks. Shouldn't we be able to just drag a couple of impulses into an instrument track and define the key zones without the use of a midi pitch plugin?

i think the problem is that impulse only recieves in that one range of notes.
so by putting the keyzone on the second one higher and then the midi transpose
down an octave you have tricked it into working in a different keyrange.

but tricking shouldn't even be necessary with the new racks...at least that's what I was hoping...
C3-C4 is Impulse's default midi mapping, correct?

I think what I'm trying to say is that the key zone editor in the instrument rack should be all that is necessary to set the ranges for impulse rather then having to use a midi pitch plugin' everytime you want to use more than 8 hits in a drumkit.
Hopefully the next update for Live 6 will allow for this to be possible...

but that is what the midi plug-ins are FOR

but the midi plugins will not let us see the separate drum names on separate keys. Using midi-pitch the drum names remain overlaid, even though the voices are accessible by separate keys. When we have to 'unfold' we lose all the instrument names.
That is why they could do with addressing this in a future upgrade

I am not sure if I understand your problem correctly as it seems to work fine for me. I added 2 impulses to an instrument rack and then opened the key zone editor and set them both to C3-C5. What do you mean exactly when you say that they cannot budge from C3-C4? To move a zone simply drag it with the mouse, use the left/right arrow keys, or press the notes that you want to adjust the range to and double click on the range. If I have misunderstood your problem please let me know.

Nick, his problem is that he has to use a midi plugin in order for it to work. The key zones don't work in other words...

yeah, i'd like to put two impulses into a rack and be able to trigger individual cells via 16 consecutive white keys.
i guess i should have said c3-d5, because the second impulse would be mapped from d4-d5.
as it stands, this cannot be accomplished without both a pitch and a scale plugin after the second impulse, and even then the note names do not show up in the piano role.
try it, you'll see what i mean.
