hi everyone

i just done the live 5 to 6 upgrade a few days ago and figured i'd start to use asio drivers instead of the mme direct x onboard ones. downloaded and installed asio4all. when i select asio as the driver type and asio4all as the audio device in prefs and then go to hardware setup, in the asio4all window that comes up it shows my realtek soundcard with 'in' as running but 'out' has a cross through it and says it is unavailable. i've clicked about with settings and looked at the docs and done a search here but i'm a bit stuck

any help please?

toshiba laptop
realtek ac97 onboard soundcard
live 6
40gb hd
512 ram
win xp

usually this means another application blocks your soundcard. asio4all takes complete control of your card, that means if you run live with it, no other app can play sound. and vice versa if another app access your card, asio4all cannot start..

aye, quite probably, but it wont let me turn it off in the midi settings in control panel. guess i'll just have to stick with the mme thing for now

I experienced the same thing with Asio4All. With Live 5.2 there are no problems, with Live 6 I get the mentioned error in the Asio4all control applet.

Christian

i managed to get a bit further with it and turn it off in windows so that it made the output available but it still didnt work and just put out a horrible clicking noise. im giving it up as a bad job and sticking with the mme

Live 6 crashes for me when I select ASIO4ALL as a driver.
Not necessarily "blaming" it on ver 6, cause I'd been experimenting with some other interfaces around that same time and maybe have some driver remnants hanging on or something...

I think I found a solution:

I haven't tried it yet, but I'm very certain, that this is the issue (in my case). I messed around with the GM-Synth for I needed some general-MIDI-sounds some days before the problem began.
