[mma] eq eight graph not mouse-editable when disabled?!

hi,
it was very courageous by ableton to replace one of the main effects by an upgraded version - and i wouldn't have a problem with eq eight if *all* functionality of eq four would have remained..
but i got the feeling (please correct me if i'm wrong!) that the eq-graph isn't mouse-editable when the effect is disabled; this used to be different.
it used to be possible to *first* set the handles to the correct values, and *then* enable the effect - which for me is an essential feature for live use of live...
while a dotted line is a nice thing, can i please have either eq four back (or, preferably, normal mouse editing in eq eight)?
