Live 6 - motu 828 mk1 + motu midi express xt - crashing!!!!!

i have recently upgraded to a macbook pro 17", running a motu 828 mk1 and also a motu midi express xt....... i have downloaded the latest drivers for both, also verified disk permissions.
when i run live 6,,, after a while the screen goes dim from top to bottom and i get an error message in about 4 languages telling me i need to restart my machine
i believe its the motu midi express causing the problem as i have tried different combinatons of gear running for a while at a time, and it only seems to be crashing when its plugged in.
is anyone else having trouble with this, did you come up with any useful tips????
