Ableton Forum

Ableton right now only allows for two seperate midi inputs. Right now I have it setup like this:

First midi: USB midiman 2x2 Input A
Second Midi: USB for Evolution UC-33

Is there anyway I can set it up so I can use both the A and B inputs on the midi man AND the UC-33? I was thinking about running one of the outputs of my phatboy into my RM1x's midi inputs, and seeing if it will send the messages through the RM1x into Ableton...but I'm midi stupid so I don't know if this is feasible or not. check your devices/and/or manuals--lots of midi keyboards and modules have midi in, midi out, and midi through jacks (sometimes out and through are one in the same). Given that, you can chain multiple devices together--i.e. the midi out of one device into the midi in of another. If the second device supports midi through, and is set to do so (often it can be turned on or off on devices that have an out/thru jack), then you signal from the first device is passed on through the second and subsequent devices. I have four midi devices chained together going to one midi port with no problems. Thus, you could have your uc33 on one midi in, and the chained devices on the other, or whatever you find works best.

thanks much. The gear doesn't have midi through ports like I would like, but I am going to see if it supports it through the other ins and outs.
