Hi I'm pretty new to Live and just cant find anything like scissors to cut an audio file to shorten so I can either paste an exact copy of it or do other modifications
For example i currently have an audio file which I have rendered from an existing one but still there is a part at the end I want to get rid of. I want to cut it right there and copy and paste the audifile where i've cut it as if I would loop the audio file but instead I would like to burn it as such..
Does Live has something like a toolbox such as in Logic?
Any help much appreciated!
Thanks
shortening audio files using scissors etc...

Shortcut to cut a record.
This is tricky but it worx!
You need to use both hands.
CMD - L + I + V + E + 6 (Mac)
or
CTRL - L + I + V + E + 6 (PC)

re:
None of the above works for me.. I'm trying to cut the audio part which appears if you double click on a clip. CMD-E click doesn't do the job
The manual does not really say how to cut audio parts with tools such as scissors
Any other suggestions?

if you're in arrange view, twirl down the track to see the waveform on the timeline. If you click on the grid (you can change the resolution of this to get more precise, or just turn it off btw) and click apple E, you'll split the clip into two parts. You can also drag either end to the desired length too. If you're in the session view (matrix looking) you need to double click the clip you want to edit and move the start and end loop points in the clip editor (bottom of the window where you set warp markers)
hope that helps.... otherwise in prefs, assign your sample editor such as Peak or whatever you use, and then ctrl click on the waveform, choose manage sample file and a menu opens on the left hand of your screen. then choose the sample and click edit and you'll be destructively editing the audio file.
