Live 6.01 CPU overloads on ibook

Hi,
I am using an ibook G4, 1,33 Mhz, 1 gig ram for live performance. I have a set with 7 audiotracks that normally eats around 15-30% cpu, depending on the amount of channels and/or effects being used at a time. During performance, after around 15-20 minutes the cpu raises higher and higher, up to around 80% and live starts to choke and slowdown while getting quite unresponsive. When I stop the playback and start again the CPU drops back down to 10-15% cpu.
I did not have any similar issues with Live 5.
Any suggestions (besides buying a new computer)?
I read about doing something with the "otions txt-file, but this was related to windows cache - or is there something similar going on with osx?)
