I am trying to find the easiest way to get cd tracks from a disc into browser so that i can drag and drop as clips. Does anybody have the time to walk me through this? Do I need a 3rd party conversion software? If so what? How does this all work? I apologize for more total newbieness.

windows media player.
go to files>tools>options and set where you want the files to go first and what format (live will use mp3s). then go to the rip tab and press rip... the rest is kind of self explanatory i think.
if you want to rip to wave you'll need to get some ripping software. theres a LOT of em so do a google and find one you're happy with.

live will use mp3s or waves, so with media player mp3 is the only option if you wanna use it with live. i was editing my other post as you replied... sorry...
wave is better quality and live will use it directly. a 320 kbps mp3 isn't too bad and takes a lot less space, but live has to decode it as a wave to it's temp cache to use it (not as bad as it sounds in real life).

i am using live lite 4 now, so i am not sure if mp3 is an option. In media player, i went to options and it will not let me change the copy format from windows media file?

I think you can upgrade from Live lite 4 to Live Lite 5 for free
