Installed a Logitech MX Revolution mouse

used that at work for a while.
started Live 6.01 with an SL and BCR
BCR worked with automap (didn't try midi)
SL wouldn't work at all

Closed Live, opened MIDI Ox, both controllers were sending midi data (ie connected)

SL would work with the BCR turned off

Uninstalled the mouse and all's well.
Remote SL shows up as a USB device, not as show here from a screenshot I took last night


it now shows the SL as
USB Device [2] - automap
USB Audio Device - MIDI

the BCR is

USB Audio Device (2) - midi and automap

but it all works, forget the mouse, I'd rather get a UC33.

opening Live the next night...
Windows said there was a USB device it didn't recognize, being a good windows user I ignored the warning.
I launched Live and it hung at the splashscreen until the instant I turned off the SL, then Live launched fine, BCR worked fine.
I reinstalled the SL drivers and all's well, the midi preferences returned to the splashscreen I posted, back to normal.

maybe this is more of a novation problem, but it's not like they're going to fix it.
