It's a big and breathtaking planet.

There's almost nowhere I wouldn't live. Emigrating seems to me to be a fundamental aspect of being a well-rounded human. People that sit in one spot an entire lifetime, miss out on the other %99 that life has to offer.

you'd be surprised at the amount of citizens that have already done so, including myself.

Circumstance comes into play in a major way here.

5 years ago if you had asked me if I would like to emmigrate (from the UK) to the west coast of Canada I probably would have given you a strange look and moved the topic on swiftly.

Then I met the love of my life who harked (?) from said area of the planet and it became less of a question and more of a necessity.

Luckily I'm not only fulfilling that aspect of my life but am rather loving my new locale.

A lot of creative people, scientists, political activists etc may well need to flee the U.S. as the fascism grows darker and heavier.

If I didn't love Chicago so much, here is a list of places I'd like to live:

1. Montreal
2. Amsterdam
3. Berlin

But hey, I really don't see myself moving out of the country anytime soon, even if we get another shitty group of politicians in DC. It's fucked up right now, but really not fucked up enough to leave everything behind. Seriously.

Maybe if the economy dies completely and it turns into a police state, I'll bounce. But that will most likely never happen. It's not even close to reaching that point, however, and I doubt it will happen in my lifetime.

And how about this: I challenge every single person who says that they will leave the country for good if we get another shitty president in 2008 to actually follow through, and pack up their life, and move away. If you do, I'll give you $10. ;)
