Looping anomaly

I've been having trouble getting Live 3 to reliably loop when I trigger newly recorded clips. Well, I've discovered that as I lower the buffer size in preferences, the triggering becomes more and more reliable. What's with that!? When I get down to about 30 samples, I have very few triggering problems, but lots of clicking etc... As a result, I've had to go back to 2.03. Looking forward to Live 4.0

Hi statik,

please try to explain what do you you mean with "having trouble" when triggering recorded clips?

1) So you recording a clip...
2) Then you want to play this clip directly? If yes, how? By clicking on it's arrow, using an assigned Key, using an assigned MIDI note?
3) If the clip is not playing what happens? How looks the arrow in the clip? is it green flashing?

Alex

Alex, here's what happens:
• Quantize is set to 1 bar
• A four bar loop is set up
• A midi note trigger is assigned to the slot where the clip is to be recorded
• I record the clip, and hit the trigger about halfway through bar 4. The red triangle turns from red to flashing green. (I've also tried hitting the triangle with the mouse, assigned a key, everything)
* At the next bar, the triangle turns solid green and the clip is supposed to play back, but I can't hear it. I can see the waveform, the clip is playing, (the meters are not moving) the play line is moving across the waveform.
The only way this clip will play is if I give it a 'nudge' by clicking on the RAM, fade, Hi-Q, transpose buttons etc... or by changing the input type momentarily. It doesn't start from the beginning, but from where the play head is at the time. So it has obviously been playing, but it's been inaudible for some reason.
The strange thing is, the further I reduce the buffer, the less this problem happens. The problem disappears at around 30 samples, but by then the crackles and pops make the audio unusable.
Alex, I've actually posted this problem a couple of times (in greater detail), and have been tearing my hair out over it for weeks, but I've pretty much given up now.
Nobody else seems to be having this problem, so maybe it's my gear.
Hope you can offer a solution.
thanks

I think I've had the same problem.

Try hit the "Res" button to reset the loop. It seems to work after that.

Yeah, but I'm using it on live gigs, so I only have time to hit one button before it starts looping from bar 1 again. Not very interesting for the 300 people watching and analysing my every move. Thanks anyway.

Well, yeah....I can see your point. 8O

I didn't realize you were doing this live. Might I say, however, that I've only experienced this problem when making my loops via rewire with Reason. No such problem with hand-played parts. Perhaps it's a rewire (and maybe Propellerheads) problem?

I have the same problem as statics. Often if I import or record a new
loop, i have short cutouts with the first play.
It occurs also if i turn the effects send for the first time.

This behavior occurs only with Live3.

Thanks...

Other people have been having triggering problems. There doesn't seem to be a common thread though, except maybe Reason/rewire. Major hassle to uninstall Reason to check though.
