See, this is why I love max - I use a cheap chinese-made P2->usb converter, and I can plug in all the stuff I want - those miditrons are expensive!

but shoot, any dude that takes the time to integrate dancemats gets my undying respect - I know there are a lot of them out there (and on this forum), but this is the first real documentation of the approach.

Micah, is it being used for musical purposes now, beyond audience participation?

i'm not sure as to what the ultimate purpose is (musical or drunk fun). i guess it's an extension of moldover's live remashing project (www.moldover.com).

the vid at the bottom of the page is pretty funny though, and i could see this kind of thing being like a new kind of kareoke.

I was going to post something about using Max/MSP and a cheap usb converter, but it looks like someone already beat me to the punch. I just picked up a dancepad last week, hoping to let my toddler use it as a controller (just like his dad, he loves any device that makes noises). That video was cool. Nice to see one in application.

I've been playing with the same dancemat with the PS>USB controller.

Nothing else is needed for Live. The USB controller can output keystrokes that can be keymapped in Live.
