I was playing with the Sampler Demo again, to see if I still wanted to ask for it for xmas from my wife. When I tried to load a sample set from the Synthetic Drums 2 library it wouldn't load it. Copy Protection. So....I thought what if I opened it in my copy of Kontact 1.5 and then save the set as a different name, or even the same name into a new folder.

WORKS !

This means that as long as you have a copy of Kontakt 1.5 or better and a little bit of free time, you can convert your library to work with Sampler.

Enjoy.

I just did it to 5 more drum kits from synthetic Drums 2 and had no problems.

This is exactly what i did.

Open Kontakt 1.5
Load drum kit
Go to Load/Save menu
Chose Save
Save Patch + Samples
Save to desktop

Go to Live and point browser to the desktop
double click saved drum kit

Works like a charm.

Are you sure your saving Patch + Samples? Maybe it was a fix applyed to Kontakt 2?

OK - I take it back it is working. Don't know what happened before but I was pretty much doing everything as you describe. No worries - it's fine now. Man, I love Sampler!

Thanks!

I seem to be able to drop the kit I want from Synthetic Drums 2 into 'Sampler's' folder it loads up the samples ready in the folder complete with the name of the patch & then, open the kit in Sampler. Doesn't even seem to be bothered by the copy protection.

The samples that will NOT work are ones like the sample set that came with kontakt and kompakt, the ones that have the actual samples in a archive of some sort. Like kompaktlib.1. Any other patch that is copy protected seems to work on my end.

I've read somewhere that a guy was able to convert some files
from the kontakt2 library to giga format, with an app called extreme converter
or similar. Btw i think that if they are encrypted by N.I. there's a reason...

So you have to use the samples in thier sampler? Thats lame, if I shell out money for a sample collection then I will use it as a please. I don't like Kontakt and I'm taking my samples elsewhere.

so

This work around does not seem to work for me.

My Kontakt 2 only gives me the option to save patch, but not patch + samples.

Does anyone know a work around for that?

I think Sampler is much more intuitive than Kontakt, but I cannot justify buying it if I cannot use all 4 of my NI Library's.

Any other suggestions?

Any thoughts are appreciated!

Kinda OT, but using Kontakt to map samples of large folders with lots of samples, is a great way to map all of those samples to individual keys automatically. Which is a pain in the ass is Sampler.
I've got some folders of akai samples but they're not mapped.
I can just import the samples into Kontakt, save the patch as something that Sampler likes and voila' quick drum mapping.
