No audio playback when Live starts up

Hey everyone,
I've got quite a frusterating problem at hand, maybe someone knows whats up
I have a Macbook Pro, Mackie Onyx mixer, and Ableton 5.2 (intel version)
I have no idea whats up with my setup, everything works fine before I start Ableton up- I can play files from itunes -> mixer -> monitors, but when I do start Ableton up, this message pops up:

"Audio is disabled. Please choose an audio output device in the Audio Preferences."

From then on, absolutely no audio can be played through the mixer -> monitors, not even itunes. I've gone to Live->preferences->audio and selected the mixer as my input and output audio devices, but still no sound. The only way I can get anything to play is if I select the built-in inputs and outputs.

I've spent more than an two hours trying to figure out whats wrong!! Its worked fine before, but it just started acting up now.. If it helps, I installed a demo version of the Korg Legacy Collection (which isn't universal binary so I uninstalled it) and I installed the latest driver, 10.4.8 in an attempt to fix the problem.

Please help!! I don't think the problem is within the mixer, but with Ableton Live itself.

It seems that after a few restarts, everything is working the way it is supposed to.. at least for now.. if anyone knows anything on fixing the "audio is disabled" message from constantly popping up, please share!

(btw I don't know how to delete threads)

It was probably the installing and un-installing that buggered up your system. If all's well now, Repair Permissions and... uh, hope I guess. :)

Don't worry about deleting threads (you can't anyway - you can only edit your text), these things serve as a warning/information to others. :D
