So I'm in the market for a new laptop. I'm looking at getting a tablet, probably a toshiba m7. Unfortunately most tablets have shared video ram.

I was wondering with these newer laptops, is shared video ram as big a deal as it used to be?

If you have 2 or even 4 gig of ram does 128m of shared memory cause hiccups?

any opinions?

Yes, it still is the same limitations as before. Whether or not they affect the way you work is up to you though. Some people aren't bothered, others stay away like the plague.

Personally, if this was my main music computer, I'd stay well away from shared video RAM. It IS getting harder to find laptops without it on the low end of the scale, but it's possible.

I have a Toshi with this limitation. I haven't had any problems.
